How to Make The Best Crispy Oven Baked Sweet Potato Fries
Slice the sweet potatoes: I like to peel my sweet potatoes before slicing them into strips that are about 1/4 inch thick. To ensure even cooking, make sure the strips are all about the same size.
Toss with seasoning: Place your strips in a large bowl and add in the smoked paprika and olive oil. Toss to combine. It’s important that you don’t add salt yet because salt will draw out moisture and make the fries soggy.
Bake: Spread the fries onto two parchment lined in an even layer. Make sure you don’t overcrowd the pan or the fries will steam instead of crisp. Bake for about 20 minutes then remove the baking sheets one at a time to flip the fries. Return to the oven and bake for another 15-20 minutes or until blackened on the edges.
The sweet potato fries may not seem crispy right when they come out of the oven, but they’ll continue to crisp up as they cool.
