Maple Glazed Apple Fritter Waffles

These maple glazed apple fritter waffles are filled with fresh honey crisp apples and warming fall flavors. Easy, vegan and delicious!

Ingredients

For the glaze

  • 2 tbsp vegan butter melted
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

For the batter

  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1/2 cup nondairy milk
  • 3 tbsp vegan butter melted
  • 2 Honeycrisp apples peeled and grated

Instructions

  • Thanks To make the maple glaze, whisk all ingredients until smooth. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat together the apple sauce, milk and melted vegan butter. Add the wet ingredients to the dry along with the grated apple. Fold to combine, being careful not to overmix.
  • Scoop the batter into a preheated waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturers instructions. 
  • While the waffles are still warm, dunk each one in the maple glaze and set on a cooling rack to allow any excess to drip off. Serve warm.

Notes

These waffles are best served fresh. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator unglazed and reheat in a toaster or oven.
